Day 01: Arrival Sofia - Plovdiv
Arrival Sofia, meet and assistance by the representative at the airport. Together you will be transferred to Plovdiv. Check-in at the hotel and free time. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 02: Plovdiv
Breakfast at the hotel. The day begins with a sightseeing tour in Plovdiv. In the course of time, the city has taken various names, including Philippopolis – when Philip II of Macedon conquered the city or Trimontium – at the time when it was under Roman rule. Discover the old town and visit among others the well preserved Ancient Roman Amphitheatre, the Roman Odeon, the Ethnographic Museum and the St Constantine and Helena Church. Then enjoy some free time to explore the city on your own. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 03: Plovdiv – Bachkovo Monastery – Parvenets - Plovdiv
Breakfast at the hotel. Take a day trip today to Bachkovo Monastery, the second largest monastery in Bulgaria after Rila Monastery. Here you can also visit the old monastery kitchen, the ‘Magernitsa’. After that, continue towards one of the well-preserved wine cellars in the region. Built in the late 19th century, it was nationalised during the communist regime by the communist party and transformed into a residence for important guests of state and for the political elite. Today the wine production has been restored. Enjoy a tasting of 5 wine varieties in the underground cellar. Return to Plovdiv. Farewell dinner at a traditional restaurant in the old town. The house accommodating the restaurant is a protected monument. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 04: Plovdiv - Depart Sofia
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Sofia and depending on flight schedule – city tour. The capital of Bulgaria received its name Sofia in the 15th century. It originates from the church Sveta Sofia (St Sofia). In the heart of Sofia you can admire the St Nedelya Temple, the Banya Bashi Mosque, the Synagogue, the St Joseph Catholic Cathedral, the St Alexander Nevski Orthodox Cathedral, the St George Rotunda, the Presidency and much more. Farewell to the local tour guide.
