Yamunotri temple is one of the four sacred temples devoted to the Goddess Yamuna. it is build in the 19th century by Maharani Gularia of Jaipur. It is located in the western region of the Himalayas in Uttarkashi district. The temple is dedicated to the Goddess Yamuna and has the idol of the goddess made of black marble. The Yamunotri temple is a full day journey from the main town’s of Uttarakhand. The actual temple is a 13 kilometre trek from the town of Hanuman Chatti and a walk of 6 kilometres from Janki Chatti.
