DAY 01 - ARRIVE IN COCHIN – FINDING THE LOCAL ATTRACTION (B)

Arrive Cochin, meet assist at the airport & transfer to hotel. Afternoon half day city tour visiting, St.Francis Church : Built in 1503 by Portuguese Franciscan Friars, this is India's oldest European church. Chinese Fishing Net : Lined along the sea front, these fishing nets exhibit a mechanical method of catching fish, introduced by Chinese traders from the court of Kublai Khan. Jewish Synagogue : Constructed in 1568, this is the oldest synagogue in the commonwealth. Destroyed in a shelling, during the Portuguese raid in 1662, it was rebuilt two years later by the Dutch. DAY 02 – COCHIN TO MUNNAR – FINDING THE LOCAL ATTRACTION (B) 127 Km, 3 hr 53 min

After breakfast depart by surface to Munnar. enroute visiting Cheeyappara waterfalls, one of the best waterfalls in Kerala which is spread across two acres of evergreen forest. Munnar means three rivers and is located where three rivers namely – Mudirapuzha, Nallathanni & Kundalai rivers meet. On arrival check-in at Hotel. Evening at leisure. Night stay in Munnar.

DAY 03 – IN MUNNAR – TASTING THE TEAS AND LOOKING AT THE GREENERY (B)

After breakfast enjoy the Munnar hills with its panoramic views and tea plantations visiting Mattupetty Dam and the lake situated at an altitude of 1700m. Afternoon at leisure. Night stay in Munnar.

DAY 04 – MUNNAR TO PERIYAR – LOOKING AT THE SKY IN OPE SPACES (B) 85 Km, 2 hr 53 min

After breakfast depart by surface to Thekkady. On arrival check-in at Hotel. Thekkady is one of the major destinations of the state of Kerala, the God’s own country. Due to its unmatched natural beauty and serenity, this small town is visited by a large number of tourists every year. The town also houses one of world’s most fascinating natural wildlife sanctuaries. Thekkady is also the major base point to access some of the other exotic sites in Kerala as well as in Tamil Nadu. A visit to Thekkady also provides you the opportunity to see wildlife at close ranges, besides the varied vegetation and a wide variety of birds. DAY 05 – IN PERIYAR – IMAGING THE WIND AND COLD (B)

Thekkady has a lot to offer you in sightseeing. The name Thekkady, for those who have already visited this place, brings to mind images of elephants, unending chains of hills and spice-scented plantations. Moreover, the flora and fauna of the Periyar wildlife sanctuary is absolutely thrilling. The wildlife sanctuary here is the natural habitat of a wide variety of animal species. The Periyar Lake is a paradise for the nature lovers. It gives you an opportunity to observe the wild animals roaming in the jungle. The lake is also a birdwatcher’s delight. DAY 06 – PERIYAR TO KOTTAYAM – LIVING IN THE HOME FOR A WILD LIFE (B) 97 Km, 2 hr 46 min

After breakfast depart by surface to Kottayam. On arrival check-in at Hotel. An important centre of the Syrian Christian community in Kerala, Kottayam is located between the palm-fringed backwaters on the west and the Western Ghats to the east. Also called the Rome of the East, the city is renowned for its churches and houses built in the colonial style. Kottayam shot into limelight when it was declared the first fully literate municipal town of India. The town is also the birthplace of the state/’s publishing industry and home to a number of globally renowned newspapers and magazines. Kottayam is derived from two Malayalam words —kotta and akkam— which, when combined, mean the interior of a fort. In 9th century AD Kottayam was a part of the Kulashekara Empire (AD 1090–1102) and was referred to as Vempolinad (the logical root of the Vembanad Lake). By about 1102, the empire split into the kingdoms of Thekkumkur and Vadakkumkur. Both these kingdoms were annexed by Marthanda Varma of Travancore between 1748 and 1754. During Marthanda Varma/’s reign, Kottayam received a prominent place among the princely states of the South. DAY 07 – KOTTAYAM TO ALLEPPEY - THE GREAT CANALS OF SOUTHERN INDIA (B) 46 Km, 1 hr 24 min

After breakfast depart by surface to Alleppey. On arrival board Houseboat for overnight cruise. With the Arabian sea on the west and a vast network of lakes, lagoons and fresh water rivers crisscrossing it, Alappuzha is a district of immense natural beauty. Referred to as the Venice of the East by travellers from across the world, this backwater country is also home to diverse animal and bird life. By virtue of its proximity to the sea, the town has always enjoyed a unique place in the maritime history of Kerala. Today, Alappauzha has grown in importance as a backwater tourist centre, attracting several thousands of foreign tourists each year. Alappuzha is also famous for its boat races, houseboat holidays, beaches, marine products and coir industry. A singular characteristic of this land is the region called Kuttanad. DAY 08 – ALLEPPEY TO KOVALAM – LISTNING TO THE CALLING OF THE ARABIAN SEA (B) 175 Km, 4 hr 29 min

After breakfast disembark from Houseboat and straight depart by surface to Kovalam. On arrival check-in at Hotel. Afternoon at leisure. Sixteen kilometres away from Thiruvananthapuram lies Kovalam, an internationally renowned beach. The beach has been a favourite haunt of tourists, especially Europeans, since the 1930s. A visit to the beach provides you with plenty of leisure options. You can go for sunbathing, swimming and herbal body toning massages. Special cultural programmes are also organised here. Kovalam has been developed as an integrated seaside resort by the India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC). The beach complex includes the Ashoka Beach Resort (owned by ITDC), low-budget cottages, Ayurvedic health centres, shopping zones, and swimming pools. Night stay in Kovalam.

DAY 09 – IN KOVALAM – SAVOURING THE CONTENTMENT (B)

We wanted to go to Kerala for a tour of this beautiful Indian state and, after some research, we chose Exotic Luxury Holiday to arrange it for us. Excellent boat tour of the Kerala Backwaters of Alleppey. You get a great chef on board that makes amazing south indian seafood. The tour is so peaceful and scenic you have to see it to believe it. All the staff that host you are great. You’re getting the whole boat to yourself for the day tour!

It was not a planned trip actually. But I’m really impressed with my stay. So I’m planning for my next vacation. Service they provided was excellent. Especially the yoga and Ayurveda treatment which they are provided during my stay was amazing. River view room where we stayed is on the very bank of Periyar river.
Kerala traditional architecture is used to construct the rooms and it is preserved as Eco-friendly. Perfect vegetarian food is also available in different cuisines.
