Mumbai previously known as Bombay is one of India’s most populous and largest cities fondly known as the ‘city of dreams. The city of dreamers, hard workers, a prominent centre of trade, a cultural centre, home to one of the biggest slum areas as well as home to the richest, this city is a venture in itself that mirrors the unique diversity of our nation, thus is called ‘city for all. Aside from the country’s commercial and financial capital, it is also the entertainment capital of India.
This heritage city is always beaming with vibrance, vigour and liveliness and is a “city that never sleeps” and also tends to be one of the busiest cities in the world. Mumbai is a beautiful city known for its fast-paced lifestyle and life here is so happening.
Personally, this beautiful city has my heart. I believe one should take the time to come visit Mumbai and appreciate the city for what it has to offer. This city is every traveller’s delight, several attractions and 10 amazing places to visit in Mumbai are listed below which will make you fall in love with this extravagant city over and over again:

Gateway of India
Standing proud on the banks of the Arabian Sea at the Apollo Bunder waterfront area, the Gateway of India is one of Mumbai’s most popular and treasured landmarks located next to the iconic Taj Mahal Palace and facing the vast Arabian Sea. Visit this place in the early morning or late evening hours to enjoy the cool breeze of the sea take a ferry ride offered here and experience a breathtaking view of the monument right from the sea.
Marine Drive
This one is my favourite place and the heart of Mumbai. No trip to Mumbai is complete without a cruise down Marine Drive. At night, with the street lights on, the entire road appears like a dazzling diamond neckpiece hence it is also referred to as ‘Queen’s Necklace’. The place offers spectacular views of the sunset, a soothing atmosphere and a relaxing cool breeze not to forget the amazing street food at Chowpatty which is right next to this place.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaja Terminus
Also known as Victoria Terminus is situated in the heart of Mumbai. Just like the Gateway of India, CST is a treasured landmark of Mumbai. It stands as one of the best examples of Gothic-style architecture in India. The terminus building has striking stone domes, pointed arches, beautiful tunnels and an eccentric ground plan that leaves visitors amazed. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaja Terminus is among the most popular places for tourist interest in the city.
Ancient Caves on Elephanta Island
Ferries to Elephanta Island depart roughly every 30 minutes from the Gateway of India and take about an hour. The attraction is home to rock-cut cave temples honouring the Hindu god Shiva. This beautiful breathing architecture is a series of temples in a maze-like Mandala pattern. Inside you will discover carving stories of Hindu myths. This is must must-visit place in Mumbai.
Drive across the Bandra Worli Sea Link
One of Mumbai’s most iconic sites is a cable-stayed bridge known as the Bandra-Worli Sea Link. The eight-lane bridge connects the central business district with the western suburbs over the open sea, offering some much-needed relief.
For the most impressive views of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, head to the Bandra Fort, it is also worth driving across the bridge, as well. By day, you can see the crashing sea on both sides of the bridge. And at night, watch the bridge light up with spectacular colours.
Kanheri Caves
Spend a day at Sanjay Gandhi National Park exploring the Kanheri Caves, a complex of monuments that were carved out of the basalt formations around 2,000 years ago. Inside the 109 cave entrances, you’ll see large stupas, congregation areas, and prayer halls. Look for the incomplete paintings of the Buddha on the ceiling of Cave 34. This place will leave you in awe.
Haji Ali Dargah
This grand edifice is made of white marble and exemplifies the Indo-Islamic style of architecture. A walk through the causeway that connects the Dargah to the Lala Rajput Rai Marg is the main attraction of this place. Feel the spirituality of this place with your dear ones while enjoying a panoramic view of the deep blue waters. This is one of the most popular religious belief shrines in Mumbai and you surely would not want to miss this peaceful place.
Juhu Beach
Juhu Beach is the most loved and visited place in Mumbai. It is in the suburbs of the city and is a hotspot to enjoy yourself. If you’re looking for a reason to unwind; its self-calming shoreline and serene breezes are some of the instant answers to your query. One cannot just get enough of it in one go. Gandhi Gram’ is located nearby wherein you can find statues of many freedom fighters and a relaxing corner. At least not to forget the street food varieties you can enjoy there with a breathtaking view in the evening time.
Siddhivinayak Temple
The Shree Siddhivinayak Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shri Ganesh. This is one of the best places to visit in Mumbai. It has a nice and friendly ambience. If you want to avoid the long queues, you can try to reach the temple before 4 a.m., there is barely any crowd at such times. This shrine attracts tourists from all over Mumbai and beyond for its theism and a real bond of hope and belief.
Essel World
Last but not least Essel World is my favourite holiday destination. Spend a day here and you’ll love every bit of it. It runs for 365 days of the year and renders many exciting adventurous activities for all. It has set up a benchmark for the entertainment parks in India, being the top-notch one in this industry. It is the best amusement park with the best rides and captivating adventure and thus this is the most entertaining place in Mumbai.
